Orgalime operates through its Presidents Board, General Assembly, Board of Directors and three Policy Committees: the MELC (mechanical), CEEI (electrical / electronic) and MALC (metal articles), their technical groups (respectively the THG, TCC) and issues.
The three Policy Committees provide the driving force for most of Orgalime's work. They are mainly concerned with policy matters. Their members are directors and heads of departments in national associations. Wherever practicable they draw the European product sector committees into Orgalime's work with the general aim of developing common positions. A member of the Orgalime Secretariat provides continuing support to each Policy Committee and ensures internal co-ordination.

One (or more) technical groups assist each Policy Committee - a permanent group of specialists who are either engineers, lawyers or specialists in areas such as standardisation and conformity assessment.
Much of the work on specific issues is carried out in task forces which are set up to deal with each issue or in working groups, such as the R&D working group which has been set up in order to provide input to the Commission’s work in the area of European Community funded research under the EU’s R&D Framework Programmes.
