Orgalime closely monitors legislative initiatives related to air and water policy issues of relevance to our industries, which are active in the development and export of environmental technologies (ie waste water treatment plants).

Air Policy

In the context of the ratification of the Kyoto protocol and the EU’s climate change policy, Orgalime is following the legislative developments on combustion plants and is closely monitoring the review of the national emission ceiling Directive foreseen by the Commission in the very near future.

We are also following the developments of the Thematic Strategy on air pollution released in 2005 further to the Communication on “Clean Air for Europe” (“CAFE”). The Commission's Proposal for an Ambient Air Quality Directive, as one of the key implementing measures of the Strategy is also being monitored on the Orgalime radar screen.

Water Policy

Key issues that we monitor are related to the Water Framework Directive and its daughter directives, such as the draft Directive on Environmental Quality Standards in the field of water policy.
