The group which includes lawyers from members throughout the EU concentrates on two broad areas of work.
1. Preparation of publications for use by companies in their daily business.
Orgalime publications are for the most part drafted by Orgalime member association lawyers whose aim is to provide documents drafted at a European level for business-to-business transactions. The main categories include general conditions, model forms of contracts and guides. General conditions and other forms of standard contracts simplify negotiations and rationalise the handling of contracts and contract relations. The most widespread of these are Orgalime S 2000 for the Supply of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Products and SE 01 for the Supply and Erection of such products.
In 2003, we launched our own e-commerce site for companies that would like to use our general conditions in an electronic version, when sending tenders and contracts by e-mail to their customers and suppliers. As the number of companies wishing to obtain a licence agreement has increased it made sense to simplify the obtaining of such a licence as far as possible.
2. Preparation of positions on a range of EU legislation. The issues on which the lawyers work focus on those areas that affect our industry as a whole in business-to-business relationships and in areas such as competition legislation and product liability.
