Research, Technological Development and Innovation (RTDI) issues are a priority within ORGALIME at a political level, as we aim to enhance the visibility and priority of our industries within the European Commission and its European Framework programmes . Through its activities – position papers, meetings with DG Research, etc. - the R&D group gives political support to and raises the profile of our industries, which leads to more of our member companies’ projects being accepted for EU R&D funding and the adaptation of Commission proposals in accordance with our companies’ needs. This is an area where we call on the active support of our President who regularly participates in meetings with the Commission and national governments.
Orgalime issued a position paper commenting on the Commission Communication "Science and Technology: the key to the future of Europe" from June 2004, with the aim to ensure that the engineering industries are sufficiently addressed in the upcoming 7th Framework Programme, both in terms of funding and of visibility.
