Orgalime warns against the disproportionate consequence for manufacturers to ban harmonised standard on hot surfaces of toasters

Internal Market & Standardisation, Standardisation Policy

Orgalime requests the Committee on Standards (CoS) to refrain from the withdrawal from the citation in the Official Journal of the EU (OJEU) of Standard EN 60335-2-9:2003, "Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety -- Part 2-9: Particular requirements for grills, toasters and similar portable cooking appliances", as last amended by A13:2010. We consider that the objection to this standard is disproportionate and may drift European standardisation away from the relevant international developments.
