On 24 January 2017, the European Parliament’s ENVI committee is set to vote its draft reports on the Commission’s proposals for amending the Waste Directive and a series of related directives, including on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). As this legislation is of central importance to the manufacturers Orgalime represents, we are calling on MEPs to adopt final reports that strike the right balance between environmental ambition and economic and factual realities. In this way, we can achieve sustainable results that will benefit European citizens, the environment and Europe’s leading manufacturing sector – which employs over 10.9 million people across the EU.
