WEEE & RoHS Scope Guide

Publication date:

Hard copy languages:
Electronic copy

This guide has been drafted by a special working group set up by Orgalime and European Sector Associations in the electrical and electronic and telecommunication industries (including the ICT industry, white and brown goods, lighting, cables, etc…) representing nearly the complete range of products falling under the scope of the WEEE and RoHS Directives.
The guide aims to help authorities and producers to determine more precisely the scope of the two Directives. It provides interpretations, criteria and decision trees that help the reader to determine whether products falling in “grey areas” do actually fall within the scope of these Directives or not.
NB: The Orgalime Guide "A practical Guide to understanding the specific obligations of the RoHS Recast Directive" is to be considered as complementary to other Orgalime Guides on the WEEE and RoHS Directives. Until repeal of the initial RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, with effect from 3rd January 2013 these other Orgalime Guides remain valid and should be consulted in parallel. In addition, Orgalime has also published a Guide on the REACH Regulation, which provides further complementary information to this Guide.
