Combating Counterfeiting: A practical guide for European engineering companies

english version - french version - german version

Counterfeiting is a growing and serious problem for many industries including the engineering industry. Orgalime has therefore led a vigorous campaign against counterfeits since 2001.

Following the workshop "Counterfeiting - The Threat to the European Engineering industry" on 28 March 2001 Orgalime's anti-counterfeiting task force produced a Practical Guide on How to Combat Counterfeiting for European engineering companies. The workshop and the guide were kindly co-financed by the European Commission.

The purpose of this guide is to offer practical advice to companies, in particular SMEs, involved in the manufacturing of engineering products. The advice ranges from information on how to recognise a counterfeited product to what measures to take to ensure that products are protected against counterfeiting. French and German translations of the text are also available.

Orgalime principles of conduct in electronic commerce

The "Orgalime Principles of Conduct in Electronic Commerce" have been drawn up by the Legal Affairs Working Group which includes the lawyers from member associations in different countries.

The Principles of Conduct contain provisions concerning the key items designed to increase trust in Electronic Commerce.

The generic nature of these Principles makes them suitable for use by a wide range of branches and sectors of the engineering industry. The Principles may be regarded as a kind of checklist for prudent electronic commerce in business to business or in business to consumers, and can also be used by public bodies, for example in the field of e-procurement.
