Orgalime works closely with CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation), the organisation in Brussels which brings together national electrotechnical committees from the EU and candidate countries.

In 2005 CENELEC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Orgalime in the field of electrotechnical standardisation.

CENELEC’s mission is to prepare voluntary electrotechnical standards that help develop the Single Market/European Economic Area for electronic and electrical goods and services, removing barriers to trade, creating new markets and cutting compliance costs.

With the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding, Orgalime and CENELEC have further cemented relations between the organisations and established in a more formal manner, the principles and guidelines governing consultation and co-operation between their two organisations and the coordination of their activities in all areas where their functions and activities are complementary and mutually supportive.
