Orgalime represents the engineering industry as a whole and focuses its work on a selected range of issues which affect a number of sectors.

In order to fulfil its objectives and to strengthen the impact of our industry at the level of the EU, Orgalime works closely with European product sector committees and associations, each representing a single product category (e.g. pumps) or group of products (e.g. white goods). There are some 120 product sectors in engineering which have grouped themselves into committees or associations, and set up their own Secretariats, thus allowing them to focus on those areas which are of importance to them.

The overwhelming majority of these committees are made up of national sector associations, which are usually members of Orgalime's federations. A number, however, have direct company membership and others include both companies and associations as members.
